Baseball Recap: John Paul II Catholic Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but John Paul II Catholic had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against the High Point Christian Academy Cougars by a score of 13-10. For the Saints, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Max Mason was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joseph Caporosssi, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one double.

John Paul II Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for High Point Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-9 record this season.

John Paul II Catholic will take on Gaston Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Saints surely won't give up without a fight. High Point Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
