Basketball Recap: McKenzie Eagles vs. Siletz Valley
The McKenzie Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell to Siletz Valley 37-33. The result was an unpleasant reminder to McKenzie of the 35-33 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
McKenzie lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rhys Hamlow, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Griffin Withalm, who scored five points along with six steals and two blocks.
McKenzie has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Siletz Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.
McKenzie will be playing at home against the Lakers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Siletz Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Oregon (Mohawk is ranked 276th, while the are ranked 257th).
