Football Game Preview: Del Sol Dragons vs. Sierra Vista Mountain Lions

The Del Sol Dragons will square off against the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Del Sol will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Del Sol's offense might be in the hot seat on Thursday considering what happened against Southeast Career Tech on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 44-0 loss at the hands of the Roadrunners. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Dragons haven't been shut out since back in December of 2024.

Meanwhile, Sierra Vista faced Desert Oasis in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Sierra Vista was beaten by Desert Oasis 48-13. The Mountain Lions' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Even if they lost, Sierra Vista's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Mary Agnes Kahawaii Pula was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two herself. Her receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked her fourth straight game with at least 102 receiving yards.

Del Sol's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Sierra Vista, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Del Sol took their win against Sierra Vista in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 38-18. Will Del Sol repeat their success, or does Sierra Vista have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
