Softball Game Preview: North Haven Nighthawks vs. Cheshire Rams

North Haven hasn't had much luck against Cheshire recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Nighthawks will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 4:00 p.m.

North Haven is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Foran on Monday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 9-1.

Emelia Brandi made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Ferriouolo, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Cheshire never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lauralton Hall on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Crusaders. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.

Cheshire pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for North Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

North Haven couldn't quite get it done against Cheshire in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Nighthawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
