Basketball Recap: Argos Find Success

Argos posted their closest win since November 12, 2024 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars 47-44. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dragons also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Argos had a senior duo take command as Morgyn Barcus went 7 for 13 on her way to 23 points and Alydiah Leed posted 12 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Barcus has scored at least a third of Argos' points.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Hawks, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayton Sibert, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points.

Argos' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12. As for Lakeland Christian Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Argos will square off against Oregon-Davis at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeland Christian Academy, they will head out to challenge South Adams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland Christian Academy is facing South Adams at the right time seeing as South Adams is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
