Baseball Recap: Northeast Has No Trouble Against Science Leadership Academy

Northeast won the last time they faced Science Leadership Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Vikings put the hurt on Science Leadership Academy with a sharp 16-5 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Junelfy Montilla-Contreras made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Montilla-Contreras was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Saunders Del Obre was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Calvin Castro was another key player, scoring four runs while going 3-for-5.

Northeast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Northeast's record is now 2-4. As for Science Leadership Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Northeast and Science Leadership Academy will both be playing Philadelphia Academy Charter the next time they take the field. The Vikings will host the Chargers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while Science Leadership Academy will host them at 3:15 p.m. on the 21st.
