Soccer Game Preview: Civic Memorial vs. Waterloo

Civic Memorial hasn't had much luck against Waterloo recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Waterloo better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Civic Memorial's game on Tuesday is any indication, that's when Civic Memorial really gets things going. The Eagles never let Mascoutah get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given Civic Memorial's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Mascoutah are ranked 99th).

Civic Memorial hit Mascoutah with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Landree Wallace, Avery Huddleston, and Eliza Donaldson.

Waterloo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those four contests. As for Civic Memorial, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-11.
