Basketball Game Preview: Conroe Tigers vs. New Caney Eagles

The Conroe Tigers will square off against the New Caney Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Conroe is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering College Park just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 56-53. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 647th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 141st).

Meanwhile, New Caney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 99-33 loss at the hands of College Park. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-25.

New Caney's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Conroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.

Conroe was able to grind out a solid victory over New Caney when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 52-42. Does Conroe have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Caney turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
