Baseball Recap: Schurr Extends Winning Streak to Three

Schurr waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Mark Keppel Aztecs 17-11. Considering the Spartans have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Trevino made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Schurr is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Trevino was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 5-for-6. Those five hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Liam Lu was incredible, going 5-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Hernandez, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5.

Schurr always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mark Keppel only posted an OBP of .394.

Schurr picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-5. As for Mark Keppel, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, Schurr will welcome Montebello at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Schurr will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Mark Keppel, they are taking a road trip to face off against Alhambra at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Mark Keppel has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
