Football Recap: Springfield Senators vs. Rochester Rockets
After soaring to 33 points the game before, Springfield was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a 55-10 loss at the hands of the Rochester Rockets. While losing is never fun, the Senators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Rockets are ranked 31st).
Andrew Benning threw for 46 yards on three of eight attempts. Deandre Brown was his top target, picking up 46 receiving yards. On the ground, Ed Horton rushed for 70 yards and one TD.
Rochester's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Kates, who rushed for 92 yards and one score on only nine carries. Springfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 38-28 loss against Glenwood on the 24th. As for Rochester, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-28 win against Sacred Heart-Griffin on the 24th.
