Softball Recap: Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains vs. Carey Blue Devils
It was a good run, but Hopewell-Loudon unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carey Blue Devils. Hopewell-Loudon was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Carey apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
Isabelle Beidelschies was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off 11 hits. Beidelschies has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive pitching appearances. Beidelschies was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-3 with an RBI.
In other batting news, Sidney Brickner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Hopewell-Loudon's defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-5. As for Carey, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Hopewell-Loudon will be playing at home against Old Fort at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Old Fort is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season. Carey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
