Baseball Recap: Fullerton Comes Up Short

Fullerton fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against San Clemente on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tritons by a score of 7-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Fullerton got a good showing from Gavin Talavera, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Miguel Velasquez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Perez, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Fullerton is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-8-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for San Clemente, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-9.

Fullerton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-0 win against Calvary Chapel on the 22nd. As for San Clemente, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Mission Viejo on the 21st.
