Softball Game Preview: Urbandale J-Hawks vs. Johnston Dragons

The Urbandale J-Hawks will square off against the Johnston Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Urbandale has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Johnston will arrive with four straight victories.

Urbandale's last matchup with Dallas Center-Grimes could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Saturday. The J-Hawks came up short against the Mustangs, falling 9-2.

Meanwhile, Johnston narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Kennedy 4-3.

Urbandale's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Johnston, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Urbandale beat Johnston 5-1 in their previous matchup back in July of 2024. Will the J-Hawks repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
