Softball Recap: Hoquiam Takes a Loss

After flying high against Tenino on Monday, Hoquiam came back down to earth. The Grizzlies lost 20-6 to Pe Ell/Willapa Valley on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Grizzlies of the 12-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Hoquiam has also been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13-2 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Pe Ell/Willapa Valley, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3.

Coming up, Hoquiam will square off against Tenino at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies are facing the Beavers at the right time seeing as the Beavers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Pe Ell/Willapa Valley, they will challenge Elma at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
