Basketball Game Preview: Rowan County Vikings vs. Boyd County Lions

The Rowan County Vikings will face off against the Boyd County Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Rowan County didn't have too much trouble with Lexington Catholic as they won 64-46. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Knights are ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Boyd County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They strolled past Russell with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 60-46.

Rowan County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points over those games. As for Boyd County, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9.

Rowan County was able to grind out a solid win over Boyd County in their previous matchup back in January, winning 61-52. Does Rowan County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Boyd County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
