Basketball Recap: Unity Christian's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Unity Christian had won five straight games and Emily Merema did her part to make it six on Thursday. The Unity Christian Knights came out on top against the Galesburg Christian Lions by a score of 64-52 thanks in part to Merema, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Abi Middendorp, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Galesburg Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Mason, who posted 14 points along with seven assists and seven boards. Emily Stamaugh was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 12 points and six steals.

Unity Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Galesburg Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
