Six Texas champions will be crowned this week at the UIL volleyball state tournament.

The tournament, which begins Wednesday afternoon and concludes on Saturday night, returns to the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.

State semifinals will be played in each classification with the winners advancing to a gold medal game.

Here's a look at the field:



Class 1A

1 p.m. Wednesday: Leverett's Chapel 31-13 vs. Tioga 29-14

3 p.m. Wednesday: Bronte 33-9 vs. Round Top-Carmine (Carmine) 24-17

3 p.m. Thursday: State final

Did you know?: Round Top-Carmine, the 2015 champion, is making its 20th appearance in the state tournament and has swept all four playoff matches in three games…Tioga took five-set wins over Avalon in the second playoff round and Blum in the fourth to reach the state tournament for the first time…Bronte is making its 11th state tournament appearance and has the tallest play among the final four teams in 5-11 sophomore Kristen Stilley…Three Williamson's dot the Leverett's Chapel roster, juniors Aubrey and Sara and freshman Ariauna.

Class 2A



5 p.m. Wednesday: Iola 41-1 vs. Weimar 31-11

7 p.m. Wednesday: Archer City 37-7 vs. Thrall 37-10

Did you know?: Defending state champion Leon, making its 28th state tourney appearance, returns three off last year's all-tourney team: Kaydee Honeycutt, Toryn Cox and MVP Kaitlyn Robinson…Goliad brings a 36-match winning streak into the tourney, including sweeps in all five playoff matches…Callisburg, making its first state tournament appearance, is 4-1 in matches going to a fifth set, including two in the playoffs…Peaster, a state semifinalist a year ago, returns all-tourney selection Kennedy Warren, a 6-foot junior.

Class 4A

Did you know?: All-tourney selection Allison White had 10 kills in Argyle's victory in the title game…Bushland, a state finalist a year ago, returns all-tourney pick Savannah Sullins, who had seven kills in 13 digs in the title match…Juniors Jenna Lyons and Brooklynn Jones stood out with 11 kills and 30 assists respectively in Liberty Hill's regional final victory…Eight of the 10 Navarro players are underclassmen, the tallest being 6-2 freshman Kelly Helms.

Class 5A

1 p.m. Friday: Lovejoy (Lucas) 41-7 vs. Cedar Park 41-10

3 p.m. Friday: Amarillo 41-6 vs. Tuloso-Midway (Corpus Christi) 40-8

Did you know?: Lovejoy, a six-time state champion, defeated Frisco schools in three of its five playoff matches…Cedar Park won its five-set regional final over Leander Rouse behind 25 combined kills by a pair of 6-1 seniors, Alana Geymer and Luci Albertson…Nine-time state champion Amarillo was down two sets to one to Boswell (Fort Worth) in a regional semifinal before rallying for a five-set win…Bethany Clapp, a 6-1 junior, had 10 kills as Tuloso-Midway secured the first state tournament berth for a Corpus Christi school since 2010.

Class 6A

Did you know?: Returning for defending state champion Hebron is Kylee McLaughlin, last year an all-tournament selection. She is verbally committed to Oregon State…Oak Ridge has not lost since a four-set defeat in last year's state semifinal. Carly Graham, a 6-1 junior, was an all-tournament selection…The blocking of 6-2 sophomore Allie Garland and the spikes of 5-10 senior Caitlyn Burroway carried Clear Creek in the regional final…Camryn Ennis helped end Reagan's four-year losing streak in regional finals with 16 kills, 23 assists and 26 digs in a victory over Brandeis (San Antonio).
