Volleyball Game Preview: DSST: Conservatory Green Hornets vs. Alameda Pirates

The DSST: Conservatory Green Hornets will challenge the Alameda Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

DSST: Conservatory Green lost 3-0 to D'Evelyn on Thursday. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-12, 25-12.

Meanwhile, Alameda had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Denver West on Wednesday.

Alameda walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-16, 25-19.

Alameda's win came from a few key players DSST: Conservatory Green will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Damien Ransdell, who had five aces. What's more, he posted four kills, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Alameda was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

DSST: Conservatory Green's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Alameda, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Everything went DSST: Conservatory Green's way against Alameda in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as DSST: Conservatory Green made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for DSST: Conservatory Green since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
