Basketball Recap: Cary Takes a Loss

Cary fought the good fight in their overtime game against Corinth Holders on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Corinth Holders Pirates. While the Imps didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 11-5 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Cary still got an impressive performance from Kyndall Brewington, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Brewington has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Garner, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points.

It was another big night for Jada Vanderhorst, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds for Corinth Holders. With that strong performance, Vanderhorst is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Darla Lee, who posted 18 points.

Cary's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-3. As for Corinth Holders, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Cary will head out to face off against Panther Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Corinth Holders, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-44 win against West Johnston on the 6th.
