Preview: Methuen Rangers vs. Lowell Red Raiders
Methuen has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Lowell Red Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Methuen is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lowell in Massachusetts (Methuen is ranked eighth, while Lowell is ranked 109th).
Last Friday, Methuen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 27-24 win over Tewksbury Memorial.
Methuen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drew Eason, who threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns. Methuen also got help from Shane Eason who showed off his sure hands for 133 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Lowell had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 27-13 win over Lawrence on Saturday.
Their wins bumped Methuen to 7-2 and Lowell to 2-5.
Everything came up roses for Methuen against Lowell when the teams last played back in September of 2022 as the team secured a 42-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Methuen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
