Volleyball Recap: Mission Bay Comes Up Short

Mission Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Coronado Islanders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buccaneers have suffered since April 10th.

Mission Bay was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-16.

Their offense was headlined by Erik May and Cayd Hanson, who picked up ten kills apiece. Hanson really made an impact as he also led the team in assists with 19. May and Hanson didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with two apiece.

Mission Bay's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Coronado, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mission Bay is set to square off against their familiar foe University City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Coronado will take on rival Canyon Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
