Basketball Recap: West Carroll Comes Up Short

West Carroll was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were dealt an 80-48 loss at the hands of the Scales Mound Hornets. The Thunder were down 63-42 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Scales Mound got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Derrick Distler out in front who went 10-for-21 on his way to 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Van Lent, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 16 points and six boards.

West Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 5-20. As for Scales Mound, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season.

West Carroll wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-46 loss against River Ridge on the 13th. As for Scales Mound, they have also already played their next game, a 72-55 defeat against East Dubuque on the 14th.
