Baseball Game Preview: Del Mar Dons vs. Ann Sobrato Bulldogs

The Del Mar Dons will head out to challenge the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Del Mar has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight losses, while Ann Sobrato will come in with five straight victories.

Del Mar lost 13-2 to Santa Clara on Saturday.

Del Mar saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Avery, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that Avery brought in this season.

While Ann Sobrato didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out North Monterey County 5-3.

Braylen Belardes was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Flores, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Ann Sobrato's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Del Mar, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Del Mar skirted past Ann Sobrato 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for Del Mar since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
