Basketball Recap: Eastern Greene Falls to Owen Valley in First Game of Season

Eastern Greene unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 72-20 loss at the hands of the Owen Valley Patriots. The Thunderbirds were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-15.

Owen Valley found their leader in freshman Aubrey Sparks, who almost dropped a double-double with 34 points and nine boards. Sparks' big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Freeman, who posted four points and six steals.

Eastern Greene wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-36 win against Brown County on the 6th. As for Owen Valley, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Greencastle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
