Softball Game Preview: River Falls Wildcats vs. Eau Claire North Huskies

For the second straight game, River Falls will face off against Eau Claire North. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for River Falls' offense. They came up short against Eau Claire North on Tuesday, falling 9-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.

For Eau Claire North's part, Ally Quaschnick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Quaschnick has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Eau Claire North let Riley Fischer and Ashlynn Mallet run wild. Fischer went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Mallet scored a run while going 4-for-4. That triple was Fischer's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbi Kosterman, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Eau Claire North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Falls only managed one hit.

The win made it two in a row for Eau Claire North and bumps their season record up to 3-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for River Falls, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.
