West Point suffers third straight loss on the road

Recap: West Point Dragons vs. Agua Fria Owls

This season hasn't been kind to the West Point Dragons, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They were dealt a 53-25 defeat at the hands of Agua Fria on Thursday. While losing is never fun, West Point can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Agua Fria is ranked 64th).

Agua Fria's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tami Balogun led the charge by scoring 14 points along with 4 steals. The game was Balogun's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Saleen Rios, who scored 12 points along with 6 steals.

West Point bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Agua Fria, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Point will take on Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Highland is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Agua Fria, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cibola at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
