Baseball Recap: Florence Has No Trouble Against Decatur

Florence's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Decatur Red Raiders 13-1. Considering the Falcons' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Cade Davis looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Auston Klotzbach was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. He also put up three hits, which were his first of the season. John Carter Goolesby was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Florence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Florence's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Decatur, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Florence will square off against The First Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The First Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Florence's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Decatur, they will take on Mae Jemison at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
