Softball Recap: Liberty Gets the Win

On Saturday Liberty's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Hoover Patriots. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Macie Webster made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carly Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Xaiya Castaneda, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Liberty's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Hoover, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will host Dinuba at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hoover, they will square off against Central Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
