Basketball Game Preview: South Webster Jeeps vs. Federal Hocking Lancers

The South Webster Jeeps and the Federal Hocking Lancers will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Webster has four straight victories, Federal Hocking has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

South Webster will head into Tuesday's matchup having proved themselves against Oak Hill: South Webster took a 34-point defeat the last time they faced off against Oak Hill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. South Webster narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Oak Hill 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jeeps have posted against the Oaks since February 15, 2020.

Dylan Shupert was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 16 on his way to 23 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian White, who posted four points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, Federal Hocking scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They lost to Eastern on the road by a 68-53 margin.

South Webster's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Federal Hocking, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

South Webster strolled past Federal Hocking when the teams last played back in January by a score of 63-47. Does South Webster have another victory up their sleeve, or will Federal Hocking turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
