Soccer Recap: Salem Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Salem kept a clean sheet against Rootstown on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Rovers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Salem's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Rootstown are ranked 347th).

Karlie Sampson and Maddy Andres scored both of Salem's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Salem's victory bumped their record up to 7-2-2. As for Rootstown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem will welcome Carrollton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rootstown, they will host Berkshire at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
