Basketball Recap: Villa Angela-St. Joseph Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Villa Angela-St. Joseph had won seven straight home games and Elizabeth Dunmire did her part to make it eight on Saturday. The Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Our Lady of the Elms Panthers 91-10 thanks in part to Dunmire, who shot 5-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Cecelia Oriani, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2023.

Villa Angela-St. Joseph is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Our Lady of the Elms, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Villa Angela-St. Joseph will square off against Gilmour Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. As for Our Lady of the Elms, they will take on Andrews Osborne Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
