Basketball Recap: West Columbus Takes a Loss

West Columbus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the West Bladen Knights 63-21. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 556th, while the Knights are ranked 31st).

Chase Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Bladen, putting up 31 points. The contest was Williams' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Pait, who posted ten points.

West Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for West Bladen, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Columbus will head out to square off against Pender at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. As for West Bladen, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Clinton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in West Bladen's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games.
