Football Game Preview: Waterloo Pirates vs. Deerfield Demons

The Waterloo Pirates will face off against the Deerfield Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Waterloo is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Markesan on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Pirates were beaten by the Hornets 36-8. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin football rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Hornets are ranked 120th).

Meanwhile, Deerfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Poynette and fell 37-6. The Demons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-0.

Deerfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Waterloo, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Waterloo beat Deerfield 21-14 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
