Softball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall had lost 19 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-17 to make it 20. They came up short against the Arroyo Knights, falling 18-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-2 back in April.

Marshall saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izabell Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Arroyo, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-9-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by eight runs or more this season.

On Arroyo's side, the team relied heavily on Rebekah Ruiz, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one double. What's more, Ruiz posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Leanne Rosales, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Marshall wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-2 defeat against El Monte on the 5th. As for Arroyo, they have also already played their next match, a 12-1 loss against South El Monte on the 5th.
