Basketball Game Preview: Howardsville Christian Eagles vs. Marcellus Wildcats

The Howardsville Christian Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Marcellus Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Howardsville Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 53-36 victory over Countryside Academy. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cougar recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Marcellus came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.6 points), and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. The Wildcats pushed the score to 52-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Howardsville Christian better keep an eye on Parker Adams. He was instrumental in Marcellus' win, going 7-for-12 to rack up 25 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. What's more, Adams posted five steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Abram Coffey, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Marcellus was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Marcellus pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Howardsville Christian, their record now sits at 8-15.

Howardsville Christian came up short against Marcellus in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, falling 48-44. Can Howardsville Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
