Softball Game Preview: Triopia Trojans vs. PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays

The Triopia Trojans will face off against the PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Triopia came up short against Calhoun and fell 8-4. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central didn't have quite enough to beat Springfield on Friday and fell 3-2.

Mackenzie Miller was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Teimeyer, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Teimeyer a new career-high.

Triopia's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
