Basketball Recap: Tooele Comes Up Short

Tooele was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs, falling 69-47. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buffaloes of the 74-53 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Tooele lost, don't look at Grady Symonds. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 14 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Symonds has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Crew Lewis, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Crimson Cliffs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Travis Murdock led the charge by going 8 of 10 on his way to 20 points. Murdock is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in the last three games he's played. Mckay Lindquist was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Tooele's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Crimson Cliffs, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Tooele wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-42 victory against Snow Canyon on the 28th. As for Crimson Cliffs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-61 defeat against Riverton on the 28th.
