Softball Recap: Burges Starts Season with Victory Against Coronado

Burges had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Coronado Thunderbirds on Monday as the Burges Mustangs made off with a 15-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kaitlyn Valdiviezo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Angelina Alvarez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Burges always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Burges has already played their next contest, a 16-3 loss against Parkland on the 13th. As for Coronado, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 5-4 win against IDEA South Flores on the 13th.
