Baseball Recap: Cranston West Takes a Loss

Cranston West made up a huge gap compared to their last game against East Providence, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Falcons fell just short of the Townies by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since April 25, 2024.

Logan Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Elan Santana was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Cranston West has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for East Providence, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Cranston West will square off against rival Cumberland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, East Providence is set to take on their familiar foe La Salle Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Townies 2.8, the Rams 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
