Basketball Game Preview: Valencia Vikings vs. West Ranch Wildcats

The Valencia Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the West Ranch Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valencia knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully West Ranch likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Valencia humbled Castaic with a 78-42 victory. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while the Coyotes are ranked 840th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, West Ranch made off with a 64-63 victory over Grant.

Valencia has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for West Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Valencia was able to grind out a solid victory over West Ranch in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 63-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Valencia since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
