Baseball Recap: Beachside Comes Up Short

Beachside was the 3-1 winner over St. Augustine when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Beachside Barracudas fell just short of the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Barracudas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Beachside got a good showing from Nick Malec, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Malec is becoming a predictor of Beachside's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 0-7 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Beachside saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Monaco, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Beachside's record is now 2-8. As for St. Augustine, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-5 record.

Coming up, Beachside is taking a road trip to square off against Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Augustine, they will be playing at home against Englewood at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
