Basketball Recap: Columbia Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Columbia duked it out with Mendenhall on Tuesday. The Wildcats took a blow against the Tigers, falling 71-40. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Columbia still got an impressive performance from Bryson Foxworth, who posted 12 points and four steals. Foxworth is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Johnson, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 12 points and six boards.

Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Mendenhall, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Columbia will head out to take on West Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mendenhall, they will welcome Lawrence County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
