Basketball Recap: Ball Tornadoes vs. Texas City Stingarees
Ball was the 55-40 winner over Texas City when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Ball Tornadoes fell just short of the Texas City Stingarees by a score of 49-46 on Friday. While the Tornadoes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Stingarees 11-5 in the first quarter.
Texas City was led to victory by Trevor Gregory and Brandon Fountain. Gregory went 7 for 11 on his way to 15 points and four steals, while Fountain posted 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Gregory a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lloyd Pete, who had six points.
Ball's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Texas City, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-15.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Santa Fe the next time they take the court. Texas City will head out to face Santa Fe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Ball will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
