Soccer Game Preview: McClatchy vs. West Park

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the McClatchy take on the West Park at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday... Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Thursday, McClatchy didn't have quite enough to beat Cordova and fell 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Lancers are ranked 855th).

Meanwhile, West Park had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They and California finished up their game with a 0-0 draw on Saturday. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Panthers have been dealt a draw since back in December of 2024.

West Park's draw makes their record 3-8-3 this season. As for McClatchy, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1-2 and their overall record down to 8-4-4.

McClatchy took their win against West Park in their previous matchup on January 9th by a conclusive 5-2. Does McClatchy have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
