Basketball Recap: Pecos Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Pecos won the last time they faced Raton, and Natalia Stout did her part to make sure it happened again. The Pecos Panthers simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Raton Tigers 56-8 thanks in part to Stout, who went 9 for 12 en route to 22 points and seven steals. Stout is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Bustos, who posted eight points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four).

Pecos is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Raton, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pecos Panthers challenge the Santa Rosa Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pecos is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Raton, they will square off against Clayton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Raton is facing Clayton at the right time seeing as Clayton is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
