Softball Recap: Elizabethtown Has No Trouble Against South Oldham

Elizabethtown won the last time they faced South Oldham and things went their way on Saturday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Dragons with a sharp 8-2 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Taytum Spiers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Elizabethtown got a big performance out of Ava Swift, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexys Waisbrot, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elizabethtown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Elizabethtown is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for South Oldham, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Coming up, Elizabethtown will welcome North Hardin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Oldham, they will take on Trimble County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
