            Softball Recap: Gallia Academy Blue Devils vs. Fairland Dragons        
        
		
        
        
            Gallia Academy's game  on Thursday was a  loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them  on Friday. They came out on top against the Fairland Dragons by a score of  10-5. The game was the first time the Blue Devils have beaten the Dragons on their field since May 5, 2021.
 Chloe Bennett was a  major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out eight batters over  6.2 innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off   nine  hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-4 with three  stolen bases, two  runs,  and two  RBI.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Reagan Skidmore, who  went 4-for-5 with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and two  RBI. Those  four  hits gave  her a new career-high.  Leigha Kingery also deserves some recognition as  she  brought in her first  RBI of the season.
Gallia Academy is  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Fairland,  they are  on  a  14-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
 Coming up, Gallia Academy will be playing at home against Dawson-Bryant  at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  win, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fairland, they will face off against Portsmouth at 5:30  p.m.  on Monday.
