Volleyball Recap: Dawson School Comes Up Short

Dawson School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the SkyView Academy Hawks. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-16, 14-25, 25-17.

Claire Collins paced Dawson School's offense, picking up ten kills. Collins got some help from Erin Ashby and her nine assists. Finally, Bella Ward kept Dawson School's defense grounded, leading the team with seven blocks.

Taylor Bales was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 15 digs. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Dawson School's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for SkyView Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Dawson School and SkyView Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Mustangs will face off against Highland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (304 vs. 140). Meanwhile, SkyView Academy (ranked 182nd) will meet Flatirons Academy (ranked 23rd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
