Ocean View falls despite strong effort from Brayden Ackerman

Recap: Ocean View Seahawks vs. Westminster Lions

The Ocean View Seahawks pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-64 to Westminster. Ocean View was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westminster apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

Despite the loss, Ocean View still got an impressive performance from Brayden Ackerman, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. Ackerman has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Blake Girotti was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Ocean View were working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westminster only racked up 11 assists.

Westminster had a senior duo take command as Eric Hoang scored 26 points and MJ Gaza scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hoang has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Matt Tran, who scored 14 points.

Ocean View has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Westminster, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocean View will take on Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Westminster, they will head out on the road to take on Garden Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Garden Grove is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
