The Cedar Reds will head out on the road to challenge the Richfield Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Richfield will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Cedar extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Reds put the hurt on Canyon View with a sharp 13-4 victory.
The team relied heavily on Kate Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Cambry Selby also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Richfield got the win against Delta on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-2. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Rabbits recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Kolbi Viers spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Richfield got a massive performance out of Lilly Crane, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Crane has posted since back in March. Emma Wayman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Richfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Cedar's record is now 11-8. As for Richfield, their record now sits at 11-6.
Cedar was able to grind out a solid victory over Richfield in their previous matchup back in March of 2017, winning 8-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Reds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
